O'Neill's, Watford on Fri 8th Feb 08 What A Night!

I have seen Wired play on many an occasions and have always enjoyed their commitment and enthusiasm but Friday night at O'Neill's in Watford saw them perform at a different level. Several new songs were introduced including Poison Ivy, Satisfaction, and I Feel Good which went down a storm. From their second song the crowd were up dancing and continued right to the end which came all too soon.

Kevin's voice was brilliant, the drummer was fab and Ray & Bob played out of their skins as usual. A special mention must go to their new guitarist, Sandy, who was great. He bopped around the stage like a little mod!

Wellington Arms, Watford Worth the trek

The covers were really good. My partner likes Kings of Leon and recognised a song from them (I did not!) However I loved 'You Do Something To Me', one of my all time favourite songs. I have not ever heard anyone cover Arthur Conley's 'Sweet Soul Music' before and that too, is a favourite of mine and we danced to 'Heatwave', shimmied to the Beatles, & sang along to The Rolling Stones, The Riverboat Song, (which is apparently very hard to master). 'Soul Man' was good too. '20th Century Boy' was also fun to dance around to as I luurrve T-Rex.

The play list was wide and varied and loud in all the right places. Would love to hear them cover Don Henley 'Boys of Summer', something rocky by Bryan Adams, something by Robbie (sad girl I am!), Robert Palmer, Foo Fighters.

They covered all the tastes of people in our group and encored with 'I Predict a Riot', 'Eton Rifles' and 'A Town called Malice'.

O'Neill's, Watford

This was my first experience, and definitely not my last, to see this first class cover band play. Really good opening set but things certainly livened up in the second set when the crowd let rip.

Memorable numbers were "Eton Rifles", "Town called Malice" and "Swords of a Thousand Men". These guys worked really hard all night and clearly enjoyed the response from a pretty diverse crowd. They were even happy to share their instruments with the ladies who were dancing at the front of the stage!

They appear to have a bit of a following and having listened to them I fully understand why.

Really looking forward to their next gig at The Goat.

The Goat, Berkhamsted Something else

I don't normally write reviews but this time I made an exception. I watch quite a few bands at The Goat and to be fair they are all pretty good but Wired were something else.

They have a great selection of songs and play them very well. My particular favourite was the encore of The Ordinary Boys - Boys will be boys, the place went bananas.

I can't wait until they play at The Goat again.

The Horns, Watford Great Band

I am a regular at the Horns to see bands....

Apparently this was Wired's first gig at the Horns..

They did very well, They seem to have an edge to their sound, mixing new songs in with the old.

The crowd seemed to enjoy themselves and called for 2 encores!

They did a great version of 'I Predict a Riot', I also enjoyed 'Soul Man' & 'Sweet soul music' (both played with no horns or keys but they got away with it).

The Horns is the place to see great bands and I wasn't disappointed by Wired who did a good set & played well.

Look forward to catching them again in the future.

The White Hart, Hemel Hempstead

Last night was the first time I have seen Wired live and these guys can play!

Great tunes such as Last Night, I Predict a Riot, Take Me Out, Can't Explain, Eton Rifles and Golden Touch to name a few. Wired have obviously worked hard at their craft and have a passion for their music which comes across in a great performance.

Top tunes of the night for me were - Pulling mussels (from a shell), Substitute, Riverboat song. Town called Malice finished off a great evening of some of the best covers I've heard.

I would just like to thank you for your performance at this years 2008 Rickmansworth Festival, you were great and everybody loved you, ideal for the festival as you covered everything from Elvis to Stones to today and that is perfect for our mixed audience, So if you could pass on my thanks to the band.

I would also be interested if you want to play again next year! you were great!

Really enjoyed seeing Wired on stage at the festival, even though it was raining these guys still pulled a good crowd! And the set list was perfect. The only bad point was that time flew by to quickly. I think if any band can leave the whole crowd yelling MORE! When it's dark, wet and cold has got to be proof that these guys are a bit special!

Nice to hear a tight band again! The Kings Head, Prestwood on Sat 31st May 08

As a singer myself (CoolBeans) I very rarely get a chance to go out and see bands performing. This weekend was my first one off in ages and I noticed that Wired were playing at the Kings Head in Prestwood, a fairly new venue which is establishing itself on the circuit.

I had heard good reports about Wired from my mates and had listened to their demos and they sounded good so I thought I'd head out and hear them play. I was certainly not disappointed. They are true to their demos, unlike some bands I've heard, and are very tight. Obviously they play together a lot.

I understand they have just recruited a new lead guitarist and he fitted in very well, in fact stole the show with his precise and interesting playing and on-stage movement/performance. The Kings Head doesn't have much space so it is difficult to move around much, but I reckon the others should take a lead from that guy - he brought a lot of energy to the performance.

In terms of songs they were all absolute sing-along and tap-along classics. Belted out with precision. They got the crowd dancing and singing along by the end of the night; no mean feat as everyone looked absolutely knackered this weekend for some reason!

My favourite song of the night was Parklife (Blur) which they pulled off a treat. Other memorable songs included Eton Rifles and I Can't Get No Satisfaction... Really well done classics.

If you're up for a good night out then keep an eye out for these guys. Certainly a "cut above" and worth venturing out for.

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to pass on a huge thanks for doing such a great job at our wedding.

The music was fantastic and as you probably gathered by the non-stop dancing from most of the guests it went down a storm. There was a bit of something for everyone, young and old, and even kept the real muso's happy!!

Extra thanks for learning Country girl and chasing cars for us, they were both spot on!!

Keep up the great work, and hope to see you playing again soon.

Wired at Goat The Goat, Berkhamsted on Fri 15th Aug 08

The Goat has one of those despised dB machines but that's only so you can still go there and enjoy an involved crowd and quality music, in the teeth of the neighbours... More power to you, landlord.

Technically a covers band, Wired's choice of songs sets them apart from most, lacking staples like Alright Now - great song, I love it, but not every band has to play it - and including powerful new-rock from Kings of Leon, Chilli Peppers, Franz Ferdinand and Dandy Warhols. How good are they? I've just gone out and bought 2 CDs on the basis of last night's performances of Bohemian Like You, which was only the soundcheck, and Molly's Chamber. Yeh I know, I should have had them already, but in a working life you sometimes need to have things presented to you as well as this to make you realise how good they are.

The band have a headstart in a dedicated frontman and singer, who I see is called Kev. No matter how good a singer and instrumentalist someone is, you can't give both of them 100%. Kev achieves the slightly-stressed edge to his vocals that many rock songs need - think of Dani California and I Predict a Riot - and also has a slightly louche look about him which may have been what encouraged nearly the entire audience to - gasp! - DANCE! I think they started shrugging and frugging during the Kinks' All Day and All of the Night, and didn't stop through the ska/rock'n'roll Poison Ivy, happytime I'm A Believer, hardcore reggae Monkey Man (shivery!), and a clutch of Atlantic soul. All were excellently performed, with a signature instrument for each song shining out - like, the bass in You Really Got Me, and the drums (not the guitar) in Suspicious Minds. Yes, Suspicious Minds, played far far better than by any Elvis I've ever seen. I can't say too much about Loz as he is teaching me to play the drums, but his dedication to his instrument/s shines through in his precision and sparkle in every number in a highly varied set. Makes some others look right plain, so he does.

Go and see them, be impressed, dance; go to The Goat, meet the crowd. Do both of these great things at once on Friday 19th September.

O'Neills Friday 29th August

I have been telling everyone I know what a great band Wired are and that a good night is guaranteed whenever they play, so on a steaming night that would not have been hotter inside a New Orleans bar, a large crowd of us found out!

From the off, the boys were on top form and the sound was just right. People were dancing and getting into the band from the word go and the brilliantly varied choice of songs made sure that no one sat down for long. The first set ended with a couple of stormers that most bands would have been happy to save for their encores but Wired have a set chock full of killer songs so they just keep on hitting the crowd with them thick and fast. Even the bar staff began jumping about and singing as one as the intro to I Predict a Riot started and there was no doubt that there was a great vibe happening on this sweltering evening.

Tthe second set was just a non stop party and the lads had to find more songs from their vast repertoire to satisfy the baying crowd for several extra encores. When finally it was all over the pub soon became quite empty which is a sign of Wireds's power to grab and hold an audience. They definitely had it going on here.

Even days later people have been saying to me "how good were that band?" and "what a singer!" The wide variety of songs and styles really does set Wired apart from the rest. They do songs that are different from most standard setlist and they do them with an energy that is infectious.

Go and see them!

We got married on 6th September 2008 and while the ceremony and the dinner with all the people we love and care for around us went swimmingly, there was an air of anticipation. At the back of the marquee that we had our dinner in, was a white curtain that hid a dancefloor and a stage. As the pre-recorded background music played, lights danced across the curtain from behind, producing a magical effect on the crowd. Slowly a happy tension was building with people realising that behind this curtain was something quite special that they yet had to experience. The scene was now set. the curtain was slowly raised and the full extent of this previously hidden area was exposed. Standing there were Kev, Ray, Loz, Bob and Tim and at that moment the tension rose that little bit further to bring genuine excitement over the assembled guests. The MC took the radio mic and annouced that we were about to take our first dance as a married couple. We stood nervously in the center of the dancefloor as a crowd gathered round ...

Have you ever seen a newly-wed couple do their first dance to the Proclaimers' "500 Miles", being pumped out by a band that is so tight and accurate that they didn't miss a step? You should have been standing in our shoes!

I don't think the dancefloor emptied for the next three and a half hours as tune after tune, hit after hit, blinder after blinder rocked the guests over and over again. I don't think we left the dancefloor all night every time a song ended a cheer would go up as everyone anticipated the next stormer to come from the band. Everyone we spoke to was genuinely grinning from ear to ear as the atmosphere of the party built and built to an amazing crescendo, and that was just the first set!

During their break, more pre-prepared background music was played and luckily it kept the mood going and the dancefloor was still full when Wired came back to the stage. For a moment they all looked a little confused as the crowd were dancing to a Bon Jovi tune that of course is not really the guys' style. What to follow it with? We can't actually remember what they played, but suddenly the dancefloor was packed again as they launched into a string of soul numbers that just kept us all stupidly beaming from ear to ear with euphoria. Say no to drugs, just go to a Wired gig, it's much better.

Thank you Wired for making our wedding party the best thing that could have happened to us. Everyone, without exception was bowled over by the pure brilliance of your performance. Every song was perfectly matched to the crowd's mood and if it hadn't been for you it would have been just another wedding. It has now become the party that all our friends want us to do again next year. Looks like we're going to have to get married all over again then ...

Thanks guys, we'll see you soon the next time we can get back up to Watford. Oh yes, we'll be bringing some new fans with us too ...
